I grew up in a small Michigan town. My passion for competition and performance started in High School athletics with Football, Track & Field and Cross Country. My high school coach and mentor suggested I pursue a Sports Medicine degree from Eastern Michigan University. During college, I enlisted in the Army and began ROTC training once I returned to campus. A back injury from parachuting with my Airborne unit changed my life. After hours in the Emergency Room they gave me a cocktail of drugs to make my symptoms go away. None of it truly helped, because as soon as they wore off, I was still injured. That's when a very, good friend of mine convinced me to give chiropractic a try. The chiropractor did a thorough exam, took x-rays and later “adjusted” my spine. The adjustment didn’t hurt, it actually felt really good. It was the first time my back felt good in a long time. Soon I was working out and living my life again. Chiropractic worked so well for me, I decided to become a Chiropractor myself. Once I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic, we moved to a small town in Indiana to raise our family. We now have four amazing children and live in Wesley Chapel. I am truly blessed with my family and profession here in Wesley Chapel, Florida. It is my honor and privilege to serve you and your family with Chiropractic.
Sharon Amis – PHYSICAL THERAPIST
I was born and raised in Michigan and attended the University of Michigan for my Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy. Competitive athletics during both high school and college (basketball, field hockey and track & field) played a big role in my career choice. During track practice as a sprinter, I suffered a disc injury which felt like a “pulled” hamstring with burning sensation which traveled to my right foot. It was an injury that not only benched me, it required low back surgery (herniated disc) and directed my career path to become a Physical Therapist. I have since become intrigued by the human muscular-skeletal system. I have a deep interest in assisting athletes to return to their “sport” whether it be highly competitive or simply life. I understand what it takes to compete at high levels as I also competed at the collegiate level and beyond. The unique blend of Chiropractic and Physical Therapy together in one practice offers patients the combination of spinal and soft tissue care that promotes optimal wellness and performance.
